The Supreme Court of India slammed the Assam government for not deporting foreigners and keeping them detained. The top court further rapped the state government and stated that they cannot keep the people "detained indefinitely." jollibet
The matter was heard by a bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan who stated that the indefinite detention of foreigners is a violation of basic human rights.
The apex court noted that if the person has been declared as a foreigner and don't have a known address, they should be deported immediately.

Both teams started off strong, looking to break each others' back line in the first quarter but no team were able to breach the barrier.
Before this match, India will take on Japan in their second match of the tournament and Pakistan will clash with South Korea at the same venue.
"You have refused to start deportation saying their addresses are not known. Why should it be our concern? You deport to their foreign country. Are you waiting for some muhurat (auspicious time)?,mnl777" the bench observed.
"Once you declare a person foreigner, then you have to take the next logical step. You cannot detain them till eternity. Article 21 of the Constitution is there. There are many foreigner detention centres in Assam. How many have you deported?" the bench told the counsel appearing for the Assam government.
The apex court ordered the Assam government to start the deportation 63 foreigners kept in detention centres.
Along with this, the Supreme Court has directed the Central government to furnish the data on deported "illegal foreigners" and the number which are being kept in detention centres.
The top court further demanded that the Assam government and Centre ensure proper facilities are provided to the people in the detention centres. Furthermorejollibet, the court also called for the formation of a committee which will check the condition of said detention centres every 15 days. The case will next be heard on February 26.
