The United States of America defeated Ireland by nine wickets in match 10 of the ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 at Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Johor, Malaysia on Monday, January 20. Read USA vs IRE, Group B brief match report. (More Cricket News)

After dismissing Ireland for 74 all out in 17.4 overs, the USA chased the target down in just 9.4 overs for the loss of one wicket. Opener Disha Dhingra, who hit five fours and two sixes in her 33-ball knock for 46, laid the foundation before getting out, bowled by Lara McBride. New batter Isani Vaghela then hit a four off the first ball she faced to seal the win. Chetna Pagydyala was not out on 23 off 25.

Earlier, Ireland captain Niamh MacNulty won the toss and opted to bat first. But against a spirited American bowling attack, the Irish innings never took up. Opener Alice Walsh was the top scorer with 15 off 12. Isani Vaghela, the eventual player of the match, claimed three wickets (3/10) in the innings.

The win put the USA (three points) in a strong position to make the Super Six. Their opener against Pakistan was abandoned due to rain, without the toss. They take England in their final group match at the same venue on Wednesday, in the early kick-off. Later in the day, Ireland will play their final group match, against Pakistan. Ireland have one point after their no result against England.

Both teams were looking for their first wins of the campaign after the opening day washouts.

Ireland, bowling first, restricted England to 144/7 in 20 overs but their chase ended was cut short after 3.5 overs due to rain.

Hours later, the USA's opening match against Pakistan at the same venue was also abandoned without toss with rain having the final say.

The second edition of ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup features 16 teams, and are divided into four groups of four teams each.

After the group stagex1 gaming, the top three teams from each group will advance to the next round, the Super Six. India are the inaugural champions.
