Sharma broke records after records in a knock where he amassed 135 runs off just 54 balls making it the highest individual score for India in T20Is. The astonishing 135 lifted India's total to 248/9 in reply of which England were bundled out for just 97 in 10.3 overs.

England had won the toss and decided to bowl first but Jos Buttler would soon regret the decision as Sharma took every single English bowler to the cleaners.

After Dube's wicket, England did manage to slow down the scoring but by that time, the damage was done. Sharma was dismissed at 135 on his 54th ball and walked off to a standing ovation from the Wankhede crowd.

Stapenhorst Charlotte put Germany ahead in the 13th minute through a field goal. Deepika restored parity in the 23rd minute but Zimmermann Sonja (24th) put Germany ahead again one minute later through a penalty corner conversion.

Speaking on India's performance the captain stated, "We played some intense matches against Argentina and Belgium in Antwerp, both in the same pool as us in the Paris 2024 Olympics. We played scintillating hockey in some moments while we struggled in a few others, but the team is constantly improving. We also used this opportunity to give some match experience to the younger players in the squad and improve our overall chemistry.”

India could score only 10 runs off the last two overs and thus finished at 247/9, still the highest T20I total at the Wankhede. For England, only Mark Wood and Brydon Carse could keep their economy rates below 10. Wood picked up two wickets for 32 runs in four overs while Carse struck thrice for 38 runs in his four-over spell.

England's chase got off to a good start as Phil Salt announced his return to form with a 17-run opening over against Mohammed Shami. However, apart from him, no English batter could spend time on the wicket. Salt smashed 55 off 23 balls before getting dismissed in the seventh over as the fifth wicket. After that, England lost their last five wickets for just 15 runs in 20 balls.

After his batting exploits, Sharma had a good time with the ball as well as he took the wickets of Carse and Jamie Overton in the only over he bowled. Shami finished with three wickets for India while Dube and Varun Chakravarthy also got two wickets each.
